The Thing Is...
"The Thing Is" - one of my favorite poems and very meaningful to me. It speaks to why Soul Full Sanctuary Photography exists. The photography part is secondary - it's the medium that allows me to share and connect my humanness and vulnerability with others. To share how, time and time again when my soul is weary and overwhelmingly discouraged by life's heartache, nature helps me remember life's beauty and brings me back to a place of love. Even if it's only for an instant, for a heartbeat, to acknowledge, "Yes, I will take you I will love you, again". And again...and again...
THE THING IS by Ellen Bass, from "Mules of Love"
to love life, to love it even when you have no stomach for it and everything you've held dear crumbles like burnt paper in your hands, your throat filled with the silt of it. When grief sits with you, its tropical heat thickening the air, heavy as water more fit for gills than lungs; when grief weights you like your own flesh only more of it, an obesity of grief, you think, How can a body withstand this? Then you hold life like a face between your palms, a plain face, no charming smile, no violet eyes, and you say, yes, I will take you I will love you, again.
"For beauty is simply reality seen with the eyes of love." ~ Evelyn Underhill
